This year we are back with the Challenge Day 2024! On the 11th of September 2024 high school students from the Netherlands are invited to experience what it like to be a biomedical engineer and work on your own synthetic biology project! To register please click here.
What is the challenge day like? Read below for the summary of the challenge day 2022!
For the first time in iGEM TU Eindhoven history, an inspiring challenge day for high school students took place, on the 14th of September 2022. Students from all over the Netherlands came over to Eindhoven University of technology to work on their own small synthetic biology project and make a poster of their idea.
In the morning about 100 enthusiastic students gathered in the Senaatzaal in Auditorium on the TU/e campus. After a small general talk the students were send on their way. Some got to have their first experience in a professional lab, some got to explore the TU/e campus and some did a small-scale (edible) molecular experiment. In the afternoon the students worked further on their synthetic biology project and presented their posters.
All in all we are certain we have enthused at least a few students about synthetic biology, and know most left the TU/e with a smile on their face.
Because of this year’s success, we hope to organize a similar event next year. To inspire the next future generation of syntetic biology engineers to face today’s and the future world problems.
To get a sneak peek into what the students have been doing, here’s an image gallery of their E. Coli art. All the images and a PowerPoint containing all the images can be downloaded with the following links. You can also watch the aftermovie of the Challenge Day 2022 here.
